1. Our Commitment

North London Tigers FC believes that every child and young person who takes part in our activities has the right to do so in a safe, positive environment, free from abuse, discrimination, or harm. Safeguarding the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility — every coach, volunteer, parent, and player has a part to play.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all coaches, volunteers, committee members, parents, guardians, and players involved with the club. It is written in line with The FA's safeguarding children policies and the standards set by the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU).

3. Designated Safeguarding Officer

Our club's Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concern:

4. Coach & Volunteer Requirements

• All coaches and volunteers working with players undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check before starting.
• Coaches hold or are working towards recognised FA coaching qualifications, alongside FA safeguarding children training.
• No coach or volunteer is left alone with a child in an unsupervised, unobserved setting.

5. Code of Conduct for Coaches & Volunteers

• Treat all players fairly, with respect and dignity, regardless of ability, background, or gender.
• Never use physical punishment, or any form of intimidation or humiliation.
• Communicate with players and parents in an open, appropriate manner.
• Report any safeguarding concern to the Designated Safeguarding Officer promptly.

6. Code of Conduct for Parents & Spectators

• Support all players positively — celebrate effort, not just results.
• Respect the decisions of coaches and match officials.
• Never engage in abusive, threatening, or aggressive behaviour towards players, coaches, officials, or other spectators.

7. Anti-Bullying

North London Tigers FC has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying of any kind, including physical, verbal, and online bullying. Any reported incident will be taken seriously and dealt with promptly and fairly.

8. Photography & Online Safety

Photos and videos of players are only taken and published with parental consent, as set out in our Privacy Policy. Images are used solely to promote the club's activities and are never captioned with a child's full name and location together.

9. Reporting a Concern

If you have a concern about the welfare of a child, or the behaviour of an adult towards a child:

• Speak to our Designated Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible (details above).
• If a child is in immediate danger, contact the Police on 999.
• If you're unable to reach the club or want independent advice, contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000, available 24/7.

All concerns are treated in confidence and taken seriously, in line with The FA's safeguarding procedures.

10. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if guidance from The FA or NSPCC CPSU changes.
